Culture Change

The Break Through Team was asked to help a large organisation in the construction industry to help develop a more motivated cooperative culture.

In order to involve the people in setting a direction for this assignment three workshops were arranged with members of the senior management, supervisors and field staff. These workshops were used as a diagnostic to identify the key issues. Once these key issues were identified representatives of the three groups met to agree on the priorities.

The Break Through team then set up cross functional project teams to work on and solve the key issues. The teams met over eight weeks and reported back on their results

One of the priorities was a lack of training and development which led to low morale and raised some serious safety issues. A complete training program has now been developed and installed and the training room has been completely upgraded to provide a comfortable learning atmosphere.

The Break Through Process has now been extended to cover three states.

Strategic Direction

The Break Through Team was asked the help a large organisation to establish a new strategic direction following a series of company take-overs.

In order to set the direction, each member of the Senior Management team was interviewed to establish the departmental priorities. The group then came together at a conference to table all the issues. Priorities were established and a Strategic Plan was formulated.

The Strategic Plan was extended into an implementation plan and the Break Through Team set up project teams to ensure forward direction. The project team process uncovered issues needing attention … communication, time management , running effective meetings, leadership. These were handled as part of the process.

Each department has now gone through the same process to involve everyone in the strategic plans of the company.
